- SRI — Sustainability Readiness Index
- A diagnostic framework measuring how structurally prepared a school is to integrate sustainability across its whole institution — not just in isolated projects or individual classrooms.
- Tier Classification
- The four readiness levels: Emerging (foundation building), Developing (structured but fragile), Established (consistent and scalable), Reference (sector-leading). Your Quick Scan assigns an overall tier; the Full Diagnostic assigns a tier per dimension.
- Programme Environment
- The degree to which physical spaces — outdoor areas, nature zones, grounds — are intentionally used as learning environments, and whether provision is regular, curriculum-linked, and accessible to all groups.
- Teacher Capacity
- Whether the competence to design and deliver outdoor or sustainability-integrated learning is distributed across the staff body, or concentrated in one or two individuals. High capacity means the programme survives staff changes.
- Curriculum Alignment
- The extent to which experiential or sustainability learning is explicitly mapped to formal learning objectives across multiple subjects and year groups — rather than existing as a standalone activity.
- MEL — Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- A systematic framework for measuring whether educational programmes are producing the outcomes they claim. MEL tracks evidence of learning, behaviour change, or institutional impact over time. Without MEL, results remain anecdotal — and unverifiable to boards, grant bodies, and accreditation agencies.
- Systemic Integration
- When a practice is embedded in governance, curriculum, staffing, and environment — not dependent on any single champion. A school with systemic integration delivers consistent provision regardless of who is teaching or which leadership is in post.
